(Monoprint) “It’s a space for rapid, intense experimentation. The matrix is essentially destroyed in the process of creation. It’s like life. There’s no fantasy you can keep creating this image. There’s something haunting.”Jennifer L. Roberts, professor of art history at Harvard University on Jasper Johns
Making monoprints is an important release for me. The process gives the opportunity to experiment with scale, colour and ink texture and fluidity. I relish the chance encounters that happen in these single edition prints. It is as near to painting that one can achieve in print. Just as the sketchbook feeds in to my creative process for etching, these prints give me chance to explore ideas away from the confines of drawing. These one off prints are large scale, approximately 70 x 90 cm and will be exhibited in Sotogrande, August 2019.
